The conference on deploying the “Nutrition-balanced Menu Development Software” under the School Meal Project organized by Ca Mau Department of Education and Training in collaboration with Ajinomoto Vietnam has taken place recently.
The software offers the 13 primary boarding schools 120 available menus with 360 non-repeatable lunch dishes that are nutrition-balanced based on the need of ages and divided into 3 regions: the North, the Central and the South.
Schools can create new menus from local ingredients or by combining 360 dishes available in the nutrition-balanced menu. With many outstanding features, the software is an effective tool in the boarding work of schools, the management and calculation of pupils’ meal cost are also more efficient. Each primary boarding school registers for an account for free use of the software at the website.
The conference welcomed Dr. Le Van Tuan, representative of the Department of Physical Education, Ministry of Education and Training; representatives of Ajinomoto Vietnam; leaders of Ca Mau Department of Education and Training, leaders and executives of Education & Training Divisions; School Management Boards, the staff in charge of the boarding management and representatives of Parents’ Associations of local primary boarding schools. After the conference, Ajinomoto Vietnam will dispatch its staff to schools to directly instruct them to use the software.
Under the framework of the Project, the “Model Kitchens” of Japanese standard have also been built to help schools prepare well for the boarding work. The one-way standard kitchens equipped with modern facilities help save labor, time and ensure hygiene during food processing.
The two “Model Kitchens” in Trung Trac Primary School (HCM City) and Hoang Van Thu Primary School (Lang Son) have been constructed and put into operation since 2014 and May 2018 respectively. Schools across the country can visit, study and apply the kitchens in accordance with the practical situation of each place.
The School Meal Project is also deployed to schools with the visual illustrated poster of “3 minutes to change awareness”. The poster is a great help for schools in educating pupils on nutritional knowledge, forming the habit of eating a diversity of foods among them.
