53 primary boarding schools in Quang Ngai are going to have nutrition-balanced menus
Primary boarding schools in the province can now apply the Nutrition-balanced Menu Development Software.
Ms. Le Thi Kim Anh, Head of Primary Education Department, Quang Ngai Department of Education and Training, was providing detailed information about the Project.
The Project is being widely deployed to primary boarding schools throughout the country.
The conference was organized by Quang Ngai Department of Education & Training and Ajinomoto Vietnam. Accordingly, the software provides schools with 120 menu sets with over 360 non-repeatable dishes for lunch that are nutrition-balanced based on the need of ages. The menus are divided into 3 regions: the North, the Central and the South.
In addition to the software, the Project is also deployed to schools with the poster of "3 minutes to change awareness" to help pupils recognize the benefits and nutritional values of foods. Thus, pupils can soon have access to nutritional information, forming healthy eating habits for themselves.
At the conference, the Ministry of Education and Training’s representative directed the application of the software to ensure effectiveness. Also participating in the conference were Ajinomoto Vietnam’s representatives, leaders of Quang Ngai Department of Education & Training, leaders and executives of Education & Training Divisions, School Management Boards, the staff in charge of the boarding management and representatives of Parents’ Associations of 53 local primary boarding schools.
In order to support schools after the conference, Ajinomoto Vietnam will dispatch staff to each school to instruct them how to use the software as well as how to apply the poster of "3 minutes to change awareness". The Company will also offer solutions in equipment layout, specialized tools usage, etc. to enhance the kitchens’ productivity.
Grasping the current nutritional status of children, the difficulties in organizing boarding meals at schools, Ajinomoto Vietnam, with its strengths in the fields of nutrition and menu development, studied and initiated the School Meal Project in 2012. The Project is to contribute to the education, nurture and train future generations through nutrition and health improving activities; contributing to the improvement of stature and intellect for primary pupils.
With initial success, the Ministry of Education and Training, along with Ajinomoto Vietnam and the National Institute of Nutrition - Ministry of Health has been implementing the Project on a national scale through the Nutrition-balanced Menu Development Software. Up to April 2018, the Project has been deployed to 34 provinces and cities nationwide with 2,910 primary boarding schools.
The School Meal Project also receives positive feedbacks from the community thanks to the successful constructions of the first two Model Kitchens in Vietnam. The one-way kitchens with state-of-the-art equipment help save time, reduce workload, and improve the productivity of the kitchen staff. These Model Kitchens are built at Trung Trac Primary School (Ho Chi Minh City) and Hoang Van Thu Primary School (Lang Son City) for other schools to visit, learn and apply in accordance with reality.
